Blustery but warm. On #1 thought I lost the ball to the right, but found it and hit out to 8ft for a (missed) birdie try! On #2 hit a great 2nd shot out of the fairway bunker, but chipping let me down. #3 hit a perfect PW over 140 yards over the green and hopped into the water. Hit an awesome chip down the hill to 3". On #6 I drew a 7i back on the green 8' -- too bad it came back to the front and the pin was at the back: 3-putted. Hit another great flop/pitch on #8 to save par. #9 drove the par 5 to within 120 yards of the pin, but hit over the green, shorted the pitch, then 2-putted for bogey. On 11 hit past the dogleg, but had a shot 125 under trees to the left side of the green: hit a punch 7iron to 8ft on the back fringe! First round with new Caiman driver -- didn't have a chance to work it out beforehand. Irons were really sharp -- still feel like I'm playing better and better even though my score isn't showing it.

Finished T14 at my first ever tournament (scramble): through twincitiesgolf.com. Shanked the first tee shot (started on hole 14) due to nerves, but pulled it together. We used most of my partner's drives, and most of my approach and short game shots. Sunk a great 12 foot super-fast downhill putt on our last hole (13) to save par.

3 holes with tee shots that launch on fairways 100+ feet below. Sloping greens that were true and a perfect speed. Rolled in several from outside 10 feet. Hit a near 300-yard high draw on 11 to the greenside bunker. Up and in for birdie. Very happy with the other 2 birdies as well on the par 5s. Hit a monster drive on 15 over the corner and water to the middle of the fairway... about 290. Hit a perfect hybrid 230 on 16 to the fairway. Happy about turning a dissapointing round into a good one with a +3 on the back.

The good news: I hit a DRAW with the driver now. The bad news: I did not realize this until the 17th and hit a bunch in the left trees expecting the ball to fade. Highlight: Hit a hop&stop lob shot from 70 yards! Short game, sand play and putting was solid on fast and undulating greens.

Drive straightened out by the end of the round. First three holes my shots were going to the right. 4's drive was right, but I hit my 2nd shot to the green fringe. On 5 I pulled the 3 wood and hit 220 yards straight, only to miss my easy approach into the sand. On 6 I hit a 220yd 3wood, a 200yd hybrid, then a 60 degree onto the green. On 7 hammered a 250 yard 3w (!), but botched an easy approach again and had to scramble for par. On 8, got over confident with the 3w and pulled it left. Hit my approach fat and walked off with bogey. On 9 I pulled out the driver and hit a beautiful fade 245 to right in front of the greenside bunker: A nice up and down made for birdie. We also got 3 holes in on the back 9: 10, hit a 260yd drive a little too close -- had to flop shot through a tree and scramble for par; 11, hit the green and ran a 20+ foot putt in for birdie; 12 was already dark, but Allen and I both got pars.

15-20mph windy and cool. Played with Doug, Allen, and Dad. HIGHLIGHTS: 22ft downhill left-right chip in on 5. 10ft putt on 8. Drew a 9 iron into the wind over a bunker uphill 130 yards to 4 feet for birdie on hole 9. Hit 3 GIR and 4 other really close... much improved! Longest drive was 260 faded. Drives seem to fade naturally, while irons seem to draw. Putting was poor on really fast greens. Everything scared short. Hit 3 brilliant 4 irons -- nice to feel confident with the long irons. Might try 3 in bag again instead of hybrid. Hitting more fairways and less 3 putts will much improve round!

1st round of the year! Hit 7 Fairways which is great. Still major problems hitting greens. Coming CLOSE... no chunked 2nd shots, but a lot of misjudged distances and sandy landings. Undulating greens were beautiful and challenging. New SeeMore putter did not let me down, though I was definitely rusty on the long putts (left them short). Highlights include hitting the pin on 3 from chipping behind the green. Chipping to within 4 feet 5 times. Sand save on hole 7. I would have had par on the hardest hole (7) but my drive drifted into the left woods a little. I was hitting clean all day, just having trouble judging approach distances and choosing the right clubs. Work on short iron accuracy. Driving was very good for the opening round. Almost flew the 18th uphill fairway bunker that was 254 to clear. Flew it about 250 and fell into it, but still saved par. Chipping and pitching went very well this round... work on long putts, sand shots, and controlling the ball on iron shots. Fun round in 10-12mph wind with Jason, Kyle, Jason, Ryan, Doug, Dad, and Allen.

Odd to only have hit one green after my record round only a few days before. My elongated follow-through was causing me to hit over all the greens. They were also very fast so ones that hit didn't stick. I had some great feeling and looking shots that were just the wrong yardage. I would much rather miss greens long than short, left, or right. So a double checking of my yardages and I should be fine. Short game saved me and good driving made the difference. I have total confidence in my driver now which feels great. I hit 250+ on 10 over the water and sand to leave an easy approach shot. Best approach of the day was on 11 where from 110 yards out I stuck the green to within 10 feet to make the second straight birdie after chipping in on 10. A nice sand save on 13 with a 10 foot downhill left to right putt felt great, but it was only for bogey. A 20 foot par saving putt on 16 was nice and a low score of 82 was even nicer! It was snowing coming back into town so this might be the last round of the season though I hope not. Fun game Roger!

A personal record of 9 greens hit! My new swing has a bigger follow through and is making my iron play tons more reliable. The second hole I hit the green within 10 feet but missed the birdie opportunity. Greens were in the "1" pin position. I parred 3, the hardest hole on the course, and birdied on 16, the 4th hardest hole. Great fall round with Jon A.

Nicest course I've ever played on. Perfect greens... in October! Huge launches off of elevation on several holes and number 6 is a beauty over the St. Joseph river with the marina in the background. I feel fortunate to have saved par on that one after landing left. Made another sand save for par on 10. Very fun round with Ben.

I'm starting to hit a few more greens! This course is a difficult one to putt on and I feel good about the way I finished off the holes. I had a few flubbed chips in the beginning which was odd, and I took 2 to get out of the sand on 10 (landed in a big hole for the first one), and I hit a few drives off the toe and to the right. Almost finished off with a 35 foot uphill putt.

GIR stat is getting better! Best green hit was on 12 from 150 yards from the right rough with a 7 iron. Best round at this course! Everything was super soggy after 3 days of rain. Most shots were still missing right. Pretty bad off of the tee this round. However on 10 I nailed driver over the creek and trees leaving an easy approach shot (which I then missed). I could do so much better if I could straighten out my irons just a little bit.

Was really trying to hit more greens in regulation. Highlight of the round was hitting the green on hole 14, 193 yards with an easy straight 4 iron. Was only a couple inches away from hitting a birdie.

2nd game with new irons. Swinging in a better arc. New grip is starting to work, but lost ability to fade the ball. Most drives going straight, but only hit a couple fairways. On the back nine hit a lot of 2nd shots to the left. Highlights included a 20-25 foot putt on 13 for par, a first ever sand save on 4, and a beautiful drive in the fairway and gir between two bunkers with a little help from Roger stepping on some rope on the way. Chipping around the green is much improved, and putting was really good: I think the lowest in a 18 hole round to date for me. First ever round in the 70s though it probably shouldn't count since the whole course is only par 68. Good round!

First round with new irons! Hit a lifetime best 3 iron shot uphill from the rough about 215-220 yards to the backside fringe of the green and parred it from there.

Just terrible off of the tee box. Only hit 3 fairways. Trying new grip and haven't spent much time on the range. However, putting was fantastic. Rolled in a 12 footer on 2 for an unfortunate bogey. Greens were fast but I hit a dozen long lag putts within 2 or 3 feet. Did ok scrambling but would have rather just hit fairways and greens. Did have 3 nice outs from the sand: best ever.

Disappointment of the day was hitting the green on 2 and then three putting. Argh! However, by bending over a little more and making sure I released the club head, my longer iron shots were much more accurate. Highlight of the game was on 8 when I hit my drive over the bunker and then chipped up from 50 yards and hit the flagstick for an easy tap in birdie. The birdie on 9 came from a mishit 3 that instead of going high and over a tree went straight and low under the tree and up on the bank of the green. A nice uphill chip left a solid 4 footer. The birdies at the end sure helped my score!

Not a good round. My driving was pretty good. Still can only hit a fade but not a draw. Was about a foot short of driving the green on the par four 5th. That was fun! I didn't realize that the 13th was a par 5 and I almost hit that green in two. Definitely should have hit my birdie putt. Putting and short game were bad, and my mid/long irons were worse.
